Mayor Katie B. Wilson announced the 2027-2028 Proposed Budget, which supports a resilient Seattle transportation system through responsible fiscal management and delivery of safe, affordable, and inclusive city services.

The budget funds the Seattle Department of Transportation’s core services, project delivery, and continued progress on the 2024 Seattle Transportation Levy, Vision Zero investments, and the Seattle Transit Measure. Key initiatives include new bus lanes on Denny Way supporting Route 8 riders, new light rail stations at Judkins Park and Pinehurst (opening September 30), and ongoing pothole filling and accessible infrastructure improvements.

The budget addresses fiscal challenges including labor and material cost growth through strategic reductions and new revenue sources: automated traffic safety cameras at 19 school speed zones and 4 high-crash locations; King County Transportation District funds for bridge and urban forestry maintenance; a commercial parking tax increase from 14.5% to 17% supporting Vision Zero and signal maintenance; and updated street use fees for permitting and inspection services.

The City Council will consider the budget over the next two months, with final adoption expected in November. Queen Anne residents and business owners can track progress on the City Council website.
