Queen Anne Community Center is among four Seattle Parks and Recreation facilities slated for major improvements in the upcoming biennium under Mayor Wilson’s 2027-2028 proposed budget, announced September 22, 2026.

The budget realigns debt service expenses with community center project schedules to free additional funding for priority initiatives. Key allocations include nearly doubling scholarship funding for recreation programming with an additional $400,000 annually, and $1.6 million in 2027 and 2028 to subsidize pool operations citywide.

Other significant Parks and Recreation investments include $9.6 million to continue the Magnuson Field 12 turf conversion project, $1.8 million for two new park restrooms (one at Cheryl Chow Park), and $1.6 million to supplement the Little Brook Park renovation. The budget also funds security camera system replacements at recreation facilities and continued planning for the Camp Long Lodge reconstruction following arson damage.

The proposed budget addresses a significant revenue shortfall from Real Estate Excise Taxes, requiring $12 million in one-time reductions while maintaining project timelines. The City Council will review the budget over the next two months, with public hearings scheduled for October 6 and November 5, and final adoption expected November 20.
